Background

James Lewis, Adapt Landscapes

Firstly, I would like to thank you for visiting Adapt Landscapes website. My name is James Lewis and I am the director of Adapt landscape Construction Ltd.

I was always fascinated by nature and was always happiest out in a garden, in the countryside or around water.  As a child I was always outside either climbing trees, making dens or fishing. Once I had left school, I struggled to decide what I wanted to do. I went down the academic route but after a year soon realised that I wanted to do something physically creative, I wanted to design and build things. I decided building gardens is what I wanted to do. So.... I went along to Sparsholt college in Winchester on an open day in 2001. It was then that I decided a course in horticulture would allow me to gain more knowledge and enter into the world of landscaping.

I completed a National Diploma in Horticulture and then found employment with a small local landscape design and build business. After several years carrying out domestic work, I applied for a new job at a larger company carrying out mostly commercial projects. While working for this company I went back to part-time education and completed a foundation degree in garden design at Sparsholt. After 7 years employment I decided to follow my ambition and start a business. In 2010 Adapt Landscapes was established.
